Police have arrested a suspect in the brutal murder of a security guard in Kansanga, Kampala.

Moses Epodoi, 32, who worked with Corporate Security Limited, was found dead on October 29, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was on duty.

Preliminary investigations indicate that he was attacked and beheaded by a suspect known to some church members.

Following an intelligence-led operation on October 30, police arrested the prime suspect, Alimu Caleb, at Ggaba Landing Site.

“The suspect has confessed to the murder and is guiding investigators to where he hid the head and knife used,” said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police.

Police processed the scene and recovered several items for forensic analysis. Epodoi’s body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem, while investigations continue to determine the motive behind the killing.

ASP Owoyesigyire thanked the public for their cooperation and urged vigilance, saying, “We appreciate the community’s support and encourage everyone to continue providing information that can assist police investigations.”
